European neocloud startup Verda has secured $189 million in a Series B funding round led by Emergence Capital. The round included participation from MUFG Innovation Partners, Supermicro, Varma Mutual Pension Insurance Company, Lifeline Ventures, ENDUR, 6 Degrees Capital (6DC), byFounders, Tesi (Finnish Industry Investment Ltd), and angel investors including Ola Tørudbakken and Mark Saroufim. According to a company blog post, the raise brings Verda's total funding to more than $450 million.
The newly injected capital will support additional data center capacity and deeper investment in the platform. Verda is targeting more than 250MW of operational capacity by 2027. Formerly known as DataCrunch, the company was founded in 2020 and currently operates data centers in Finland running on 100 percent renewable energy, plus one site in Reykjanesbær, Iceland. It has further sites planned across Europe, the UK, the US, and Asia. The company previously raised $117 million in April 2026, $64.6 million in a September 2025 Series A, and $13 million in an October 2024 seed round.
The funding positions Verda to expand its AI compute footprint at a time when founder and CEO Ruben Bryon says there is a window to build a defining compute company from Europe. In addition to capacity growth, Verda plans to deploy Nvidia Vera Rubin NVL72 systems in the coming months and is on a path to release S3-compatible Object Storage. In April 2026, the company said it would offer access to Arm's AGI CPU, developed with Meta, alongside Nvidia GB300 racks.
What remains unclear is the valuation implied by the Series B, the specific timeline for new data center sites, and how much of the targeted 250MW capacity is already contracted or under construction. The dossier also does not specify revenue, customer counts, or how Verda's European renewable-energy positioning will compete against larger hyperscalers.
