Amazon has agreed to withdraw its application to develop a data center at the George Washington University Science and Technology Campus in Ashburn, Loudoun County. Amazon Data Services acquired the 122-acre campus from George Washington University in March for $427 million on a five-year sale-leaseback basis.

The company had hoped to develop a four-building campus totaling 800,000 sq ft known as the Bridgefield Tech Center. Loudoun Board of Supervisors Chair Phyllis Randall said her goal was to disallow any data centers or infrastructure that could support data centers on this property.
