Bitdeer AI, part of Nasdaq-listed Bitdeer Technologies Group, announced a ten-year data center services agreement for A202, a 65.1MW facility in Johor Bahru, Malaysia. Energization is expected in Q3 2027. The company described the liquid-cooled facility as its largest single capacity addition to date in Southeast Asia and said it will host Nvidia's GB300 and NVL72 hardware.
A202 is located on the same campus as the 21.7MW A201 facility, bringing the Johor campus to 86.8MW of capacity. Bitdeer AI's total secured data center capacity, including owned or under agreement, now totals approximately 206.5MW across Malaysia, Norway, and the United States. CFO Michael G. Potter said A102 sold out ahead of energization and A201 is in advanced negotiations, adding that securing A202 is a direct response to demand for liquid-cooled, rack-scale AI Cloud capacity in 2027. VP of AI cloud Retainna Lin noted that A201 is scheduled to be ready for service in January 2027 and that A202 benefits from the same power, cooling, and network infrastructure.
The lease supports Bitdeer's broader pivot from cryptomining to data centers and cloud services, including repurposing mining facilities in Washington, Tennessee, and Norway into AI hosting. The company is targeting 350MW of delivered capacity by the first quarter of 2028. The Johor expansion also reflects a strategy of adding capacity without originating a new site, which Lin said allows a timeline that few regional providers can offer.
What remains unknown is the financial terms of the ten-year agreement, the identity of committed customers for A202, and whether the facility will be fully contracted before energization. The announcement also did not specify how the Johor expansion relates to Bitdeer's recent non-binding letter of intent for an AI data center in Bhutan's Gelephu Mindfulness City, which targets an initial 30MW with a potential pathway to 500MW.
